Norman Pollock Obituary

1931 -2023

Norman Benson Pollock was born October 23, 1931, in Groesbeck, Texas to Elmer J. and Armenda (Beaver) Pollock. He passed away on December 10, 2023.

Benson graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1949. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in November 1950 and served 20 years, retiring in Austin, Texas on May 31, 1971. During those years he served stateside at March AFB, California: McChord AFB, Washington, Connally AFB, Waco TX; F.E. Warren AFB, Wyoming and Bergstrom AFB, TX. He also served overseas in England, Korea, Okinawa, Guam and the Philippines.

After retiring from the Air Force, Benson received an Associate Degree from Austin Community College in 1980. He spent several years in the banking industry, and then worked for the State of Texas in the Secretary of State Division, retiring in 2000. He was a faithful member of Onion Creek Baptist Church in Austin until moving from Del Valle to Salado, Texas in 2019.

Benson was married to Lyndell DeBrock at James Connally AFB, Waco TX on December 22, 1955, until she went to be with the Lord on June 5, 2023. He is survived by two sons, Norman Jr. and wife Deborah; Mark and wife Ana; four grandsons: Justin (wife Jamie); Ray (wife Katy); Jonathan and Cory; six great-grandchildren: Cooper, Carter, Cole, Camden, Lincoln and Eleanor; sisters-in-law Doris DeBrock, and Wynell Mikesell (husband Jack), as well as several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Duncan Pollock.

Viewing and visitation will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 5–8 p.m. at Cook Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH 35, Pflugerville, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, at 10 a.m., with burial services to immediately follow at Cook Walden Capitol Parks Cemetery.
