Norman W. Rand Jr.

WENHAM - Norman W. Rand Jr., 76, of Wenham, formerly of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Wells, ME, passed away Saturday, January 15, 2022 at Addison Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester. He was the husband of Fran (Brown) Pierce and the late Meredith (Giles) Rand. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late Norman and Nathalie (Towle) Rand. He was a graduate of Beverly High School with the class of 1963 and earned his bachelor's degree from Salem State University in 1968.
An honorably discharged veteran, he served his country during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. He was proud of his service as a helicopter pilot and part of the 101st Airborne, B Troop, at Camp Eagle in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Distinguished Flying Cross for his dedicated service to his country.
Norm was a kind and gentle man loved by his family and friends and was dedicated to his family. He never missed one of his grandchildren's games, recitals, or performances. He was a wonderful and caring father and husband. He loved playing golf, billiards and was unbeatable in trivia. He was famous for his perfect grilled steaks and homemade Caesar salads. Norm worked as a Financial and Estate Planner locally for many years, owned his own business, and enjoyed working with people from all walks of life. He had an infectious laugh that made everyone else laugh with him. He will be tremendously missed and those that knew him felt privileged to call him a friend.
In addition to his wife Fran, he is survived by his son, Jonathan Rand and his wife Estelle of Beverly; two stepsons, Robyn Pierce of Ipswich and Rory Pierce of Oakland, CA and two grandchildren, Miles and Maggie Rand.
His funeral services will be held privately. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date.
