A devoted Catholic man, passed away peacefully on March 4th, 2024, at the age of 89 in Sun City, AZ. A joint memorial mass will be held for Norman and Joan on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Humboldt beginning at 10:30 am.
Born on June 2nd, 1934, Norman began his life as a farmer and went on to marry the love of his life, Joan Sechser, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. His wife, along with his brother Bob, survive him, as do his children Mike (Demara) in Hubbard OR, Mark (Gina) in Toppenish WA, Todd (Tamara) in Weldon, CA, Jolene (Jeff) in Sun City AZ, and Janel (Julie) in San Diego, CA, along with 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Norman was known for being a hardworking provider and a loving, supportive father. With strong traditional, small-town family values, he was always quick to lend a helping hand to his neighbors and community. Norman was the quintessential "fix-it" man. With his unparalleled resourcefulness, creativity, and unwavering determination, everyone in his life knew that they could turn to him for support and an ingenious solution.
Those who have seen his garage or backyard, know that Norman was constantly tinkering with his own inventions. We will forever be surprised that we haven't seen a Norman Sechser invention in our late-night television advertisements.
His other well-known passion was playing any form of card game. If you were ever invited to an evening at the Sechser household, you could rest assured you had at least one card game in your future. Norman will be sorely missed at many card tables.
Without a doubt, Norman left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Norman's faith and dedication to his family and community will be cherished and remembered for generations to come.
Norman Sechser's legacy will continue to inspire those who were touched by his presence. May he rest in peace.
