Norman Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Joseph F Nardone Funeral Home - Peekskill on Dec. 11, 2025.
Norman Smith Sr., lovingly known as Smitty, was born on July 28, 1955, to Kenneth and Daisy Lee (Scott) Smith. He passed away unexpectedly at his home in Peekskill, NY, on November 28, 2025.

Raised in Cincinnati, OH, Norman relocated to New York after serving in the United States Air Force, though he always cherished returning home to visit family and friends. His career was devoted to helping others: he served as a Medic, worked at Burke Rehabilitation Center as a Nurse's Aide and later as a Physical Therapy Technician, and eventually retired from Walmart as a Sales Associate.

Norman was known for his warm smile and infectious laugh, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met. He leaves behind his children, Kim, Shalaela (DeVon), and Norman II (Jasmin); 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and siblings Kennith (Love), Brenda, Danny, Jeanette, Michael, Katherine, and Karen. He was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth (Diddy) and Daisy (Ma); siblings Anna (Fletcher), Sharon, Robert, Beverly, Lavaun (Lamor, preceded in death), and Ronald (Edwina, survived); and two grandsons.

A man of deep faith, Norman developed a strong belief in God and dedicated much of his time as a devoted Usher at Assumption Church in Peekskill.

A Funeral Mass will be held on December 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Assumption Church in Peekskill, followed by a small Celebration of Life.

Honoring his final wish, Norman's remains will be brought home to Cincinnati for a family gathering before being laid to rest at Spring Grove Cemetery alongside loved ones.

The family kindly requests that flowers not be sent. Donations toward his burial plot at Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati would be deeply appreciated.
