Norman Wesley Thomas, Jr, 64, passed away on November 3, 2024. Norman was born, June 1, 1960, in Sulphur, LA, to Norman, Sr. and Helen Jo Thomas. For 64 years, Norman (Bubbie or Bub) left his imprint with his gentle nature. He worked as a valve mechanic for 41 years where his experience was well respected. Bub spent his time off fishing at the camp in Toledo Bend or deer hunting at the lease in the Texas Hill Country. His face had a way of speaking even before his words came out. His strength was evident, but his compassion was unwavering. Norman was a routine man to the degree that his family found quite humorous. He loved his family so much and he showed it in so many ways. There was always room for more in Norman's eyes. Everyone was included because his joy came from sharing with others. There were so many stories told. His children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews loved stories about his younger years, especially when told by him. He was a man's man. It was showed with how much confidence his family, friends, and co workers had in him to get the job done. There wasn't anything he could not do. You could always count on him to out hunt, out fish, or out work you. This was his banter after every occasion, while relaxing with a cold beer.

Those left to cherish Norman's memory are his mom, Helen Burch Thomas; his siblings, Randy Thomas (Bridget) and Kristi Higginbotham (Mike); his children, Rashonda LeBlanc (Dominic), Troy Thomas (Lauren) and Candice Thomas (Bryan Istre); his grandchildren, Aubrey Thomas, Tate Thomas, Quinn Thomas, Anna Taylor, Alexis Mouton, Emilia Rogers, and Blythe Istre; and the mother of his children, Laura Stoute. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Thomas, Sr.; his sister, Karrie Thomas; and his grandchild, Kayden Taylor.

Services for Norman will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11 AM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur with Pastor Marcus Wade officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 11, 2024, from 4-8 PM at Johnson Funeral Home of Sulphur and will resume on Tuesday from 9 AM until the time of services.
