PRESQUE ISLE - Norman "Tooter" L. Tuttle, 45, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011, after a tractor trailer accident in Schuylkill County, Pa. Tooter was born Sept. 10, 1965, in Montgomery, Ala., son of Lewis Tuttle and Virginia Sellars, and Lynwood and Alberta Tuttle. Tooter spent most of his childhood in Texas until he moved to Washburn at age 15. He attended school in Washburn and Presque Isle, and was a graduate of Presque Isle High School, Class of 1984. Tooter served three years in the U.S. Army and upon his return to the area worked at McCain foods, attended Northern Maine Community College's CDL course and began his 17-year career as a long haul trucking operator. For the past seven years and at the time of his death, Tooter was employed by R.F. Chamberlain, Inc. out of St. Agatha. He looked forward to his weekends at home as he enjoyed spending his time of with his wife and best friend of 23 years, Kelly. Tooter will be remembered by family and friends for his carefree personality, his love of laughter and sense of humor. He always wore a smile and was always willing to lend a hand. Four years ago, Tooter and his wife began attending Presque Isle Wesleyan Church where he found the love and support of many new and lifelong friends. He enjoyed the time that he spent with his church family delivering Thanksgiving meals to those in need and enjoyed weekly phone calls with fellow church members every Wednesday evening while on the road. In addition to his wife, Kelly L. (Crawford) Tuttle, Tooter is survived by his children, Travis John, age 28, Christopher Michael, age 23, and Katherine Margaret, age 21, all of Presque Isle. Tooter is also survived by one grandson, T.J., age 1, also of Presque Isle. His children and grandson brought him great pride and joy and he loved them with all of his heart. Tooter is also survived by his father, Lewis Tuttle of Waurika, Okla.; his brother, Patrick and his fiancee, Kellie, and their three daughters of Lauton, Okla.; and his sister, Norma Jean and his special brother-in-law, Don Porterfield, of Waurika, Okla. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kathy and Mike Crawford of Presque Isle; a sister-in-law, Kerry and her husband, Steve Spooner; as well as two very special nieces, Kelsie and Kerstee Spooner, all of Presque Isle. He also leaves behind many other aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. Tooter was predeceased by his biological mother, Virginia; and his parents, Lynwood and Alberta Tuttle. Kelly and family,
My sincere condolences.
Norman was the finest man I or anyone could ever be lucky enough know. He laughed hard. He cried softly. He lived. He loved his family and friends with all his being and all his beautiful hart. He was human. He was strong with a gentle soul you could see in his eyes. He was real. He loved. He was loved. He is loved. He was kind and was one of a kind. He will be missed every second of every day until time stops and there are no more seconds to count.

Kelly and Family~ I have talked with Kelly and told her how sorry I am to her of Tooter's passing. But my heart goes out to everyone that knew and loved him. He was a very nice man and a gentleman. I got lucky enough to meet him when my son and husband worked for McCain's and we would run into Tooter at one truck stop or another.
I thinking sharing memories of Tooter and keeping all the great memories alive will help as the days go by.
Praying that God keeps you all in the palm of his hand.

Kelly,

I haven’t truly known you and Tooter personally, but I grew up with your dad, so through meeting at restaurants and long phone conversations down through the years I learned how precious you and Kerry and your families are to him. Mike married “the girl of his dreams” so your having a true loving family from its roots makes for a bulwark of love to sustain you during this hard time. I am sure you and your close-knit family made it easier for Tooter when he was off on his long hauls. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Kelly, You were very fortunate to have spent the wonderful years you did with Tooter and he with you, some are not as lucky to have had such a great partner for as long as you both did. Remember that the great memories you both had will live on in your heart and help you through this along with the Lords help. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Cheryl Martin

Tuttle family, we were so, so saddened to hear of the accident and loss of a great friend and a coworker/driver of ours. Norman was always smiling and laughing. Many times did he and my husband travel together when they had the same route...keeping each other company by talking on the CB, phone, going to stop and eat together etc. When I just got my license, he was nothing but encouraging to me..telling me I could do it. All of us at RFC will miss him terribly..hugs to all of you during this sad time...
