Leon L. Willette

Presque Isle: Leon L. Willette, 64, lost his battle after a long illness on February 22, 2026, in Presque Isle. He was born June16, 1961, in Connecticut, the son of William and Ruth Delano Willette.

Leon grew up helping his father, Bill, work at Dugan's Pool Hall (Elk's Lodge) on Main Street, at a young age. Leon began playing pool at the age of 10, and could run the table on most of his friends and older competitors. At the age of 17, Leon went to work at McCain's Fertilizer, where he stayed 47 years. Leon also made many friends from the Canadian side of the border, and many farmers in our county over the years. Leon will be remembered by all for his great sense of humor, his acts of kindness, and his laughter and generosity.

Leon was a brother to Larry, Alan, and Charlie Willette, Vanessa Frazier, Hazel Burt, Robin Beckwith, and Rosemary Lavway. He had several nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Leon was predeceased by his parents, Ruth A. (Delano) and William Joseph Willette; as well as a brother, William L. "Billy" Willette of Presque Isle.

A memorial service will be held at Framework Church on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11 a.m. There will be a gathering in the Fellowship Hall after the service. A celebration of life will be held in June, day and time to be announced. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bowers Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
