Norman Walsh, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away on September 20, 2025 at his home in Salinas. He was 85 years old. He was born August 30, 1940 in Kingsburg, CA to Coleman (lovingly referred to as Buster) and Evelyn Walsh who are both deceased. Norman is survived by his wife Marjorie Walsh, daughter April and her husband Deo Ferrer, granddaughters Adele Ferrer, Kelly Ferrer and Evangeline Ferrer, daughter Valerie and her husband Jerry Mattos, grandsons Makena Mattos and Makai Mattos, and brothers David Walsh and Denton Walsh.
Norman graduated from Monterey Union High School on June 12, 1959.
He enlisted in the navy two months later on August 12,1959. His last duty assignment was on the USS Kittyhawk. He was discharged from the navy on July 22, 1963.
On April 4, 1971 Norman married Marjorie Low and they had two beautiful Daughters April Ferrer and Valerie Mattos.
Norman got an associate of science degree from Monterey Peninsula College on June 9, 1972. He got a Standard Designated Subjects Teaching Credential on September 10, 1970. He taught several classes at Monterey Peninsula College related to data processing and on February 28, 1972 he got a lifetime teaching credential for data processing.
He worked at Monterey Peninsula College February 1965 to December 1992 in the data processing department. Norman started as a tabulating machine operator. Over the years, he held the positions of programmer and then Supervisor of Data Processing in charge of designing, developing and maintaining fiscal accounting programs and online student data base systems. Norman retired from MPC in 1992 as a System Analyst/Supervisor.
After retirement, in order to keep active, he worked part time for Kelly Temporary Services, Household Credit Services Inc., and Monterey Salinas Transit as a bus driver.
Norman enjoyed doing many things. Among them was reading, going for long walks around the neighborhood, reminiscing about the past and accompanying Margie to Reno, Las Vegas and Laughlin to enjoy the gambling, concerts, buffets and sights.
Norman lived a happy and fulfilling life. When asked a last year during his birthday celebration what he wished for his reply was, "I've got everything I ever wanted".
Norman will be interred at the San Carlos Cemetery located at 792 Fremont Street, Monterey, CA 93940.
