Norman Wine Obituary Norman D. Wine, 95, of Chester, passed away peacefully in his sleep into the loving arms of Jesus, on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Windsor Medical in North Canton. He was born on November 22, 1929, in East Liverpool, the son of the late Reese and Elsie Travis Wine.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Rowena Snyder, Juanita Prescott, Kenneth Wine, and Edwin Wine.
Norman graduated from Chester High School, Class of 1949. He honored his country by serving in the United States Air Force for 20 years, ultimately achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. His military career took him to many bases, including two tours in Germany and a year in Vietnam from 1964 to 1965, where he was awarded a Bronze Star with V clasp and oak leaf cluster for his bravery during a combat operation to defend TAWSON NHUT Airfield. He was a member of First UP Church in Chester where he served as an elder. He also helped serve monthly community meals.
Norman was actively involved in his community, participating in various groups such as the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, and Chester Hometown Christmas Committee. He cherished spending time with his family, especially during Thanksgiving when he took great pride in preparing every meal. In his leisure time, he enjoyed target practice, coin collecting, gardening, and traveling. He was known for being fiercely competitive in Monopoly. Norman will be profoundly missed by his beloved wife, Carol Richmond Wine, whom he married on March 27, 1956; his daughters, Janice Mead (Gary) of North Canton, OH, and Kimberly Tunney (Walter) of West Lake, OH; his grandchildren, Christopher Egert (Gina), Stephen Egert (Heather), Elizabeth Willemin, Megan Stanevich (Christian Petrila), Jennifer Stanevich and Linda Remark (Todd); his great-grandchildren, Cora and Elsie Egert, Lana Willemin, Dominic Egert, Brayden, Parker and Makenzie Remark, Zander Mead, along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Norman's life will take place on Friday, April 18, 2025, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Millcreek Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted. Friends are invited to visit with Normans family from noon to 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
