Norris "Pops" Poindexter Sr.

Norris "Pops" Poindexter, Sr., age 80, of Henderson, KY, received his wings for his flight home on October 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.
Pops was baptized at an early age and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was hard working and dedicated. He spent 39 years working at Whirlpool Manufacturing Company before retiring. Despite his many responsibilities, Pops always made time for his family and his passions. Though he may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserved to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity. He left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Pops' hobbies and interest helped define who he was. He enjoyed cleaning and working on his car while listening to Motown music. He often spent weekends watching college basketball and NFL football. His love for sports was something he shared with his children, leaving a mark on them that will never fade.
Pops was preceded in death by his parents John Lee Poindexter and Odelia Green Poindexter, his sisters Dorris Poindexter and Ora Belle Poindexter, brother Robert Poindexter, and his son Norris "Green Eyes" Poindexter, Jr.
Pops is survived by his loving children: Michelle Poindexter of Henderson, KY, Tina Poindexter of Evansville, IN, Christa Wilson of Henderson, KY, and Shawn Wilson of Henderson, KY; sister Sandra Poindexter of Henderson, KY; as well as a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to Norris' Life Celebration from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson, KY. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
