Nylene Hansen

Nylene Hansen, 94, of Perry, Iowa, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 31, 2025, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on March 14, 2026 at Spring Valley Retirement Center, Perry, Iowa beginning at 10:00 am.

Nylene was born on December 18, 1931 to Virgil and Edna York. Nylene married Russell Bice on November 26, 1949 and had four children, Tim, Rick, Natalie, and Allison. She later married the love of her life Robert "Bob" Hansen on January 6, 1980. They enjoyed traveling together. Over the years they went to California, Hawaii, Albuquerque, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, and Atlanta. Nylene worked at Cargill Grain Elevator in Woodward, Iowa for 16 years. Nylene was a huge advocate for the Woodward Community where she helped implement the social center, the high trestle trail depot, and planting trees along the highway into Woodward.

Nylene loved golfing, playing cribbage and dancing with Bob. She loved playing bridge, and teaching it to the community. Nylene was also an avid bowler in her younger years. Nylene loved her JFA group (Just For Amusement) where they had a lot of fun doing very mischievous activities.

Nylene is survived by her son, Rick (Jan) Bice; daughters, Natalie Robinette and Allison Bice; step-son, Jim Hansen; daughter-in-law Laurie Bice; grandchildren, Nicole (Justin) Brewer, Katie (Carl) Fenceroy, Dan (Laura) Robinette, Brad (Lauren) Robinette, Kara Bodensteiner, Kelsey Bodensteiner, Ashley (Paul) Ryan, Matt (Jessica) Bice and 2 step-grandchildren Andi and Scott; 14 great grandchildren, and many nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 19 years, Bob Hansen; son, Tim Bice; and her brother, Larry York.

Nylene loved to read and would love to have memorial contributions be made to the Woodward Library.
