Ofelia Martinez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge on Dec. 9, 2025.
Ofelia Diaz Martinez was born on April 2, 1931 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was called home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. Ofelia lived a life rooted in faith, love and devotion to her family. She is now reunited in heaven with her husband, Eloy R. Martinez and her son Oscar Mario who welcomed her into eternal rest.

Ofelia's memory will be forever treasured by those she leaves behind: her 5 children Hilda Perez (William), Elizabeth Martinez (Armando), Edward Elizondo, Guillermo Martinez, Jaime Martinez (Shelly); her 7 grandchildren Michelle Perez, Valerie Boggs (Gary), Christine Garcia (Vincent), Christopher Elizondo (Jamie), Benjamin Elizondo (Chelsea), Stefanie Amezcua (Ruben), Katy Castro (Diego); and her 10 great-grandchildren Aidan Adkins, William Boggs, Ethan Garcia, Jaxson Boggs, Noah Garcia, Dahlia Elizondo, Olivia Garcia, Indigo Elizondo, Sofia Castro, Lucia Castro.

Ofelia immigrated to the United States in 1954. She became a U.S. citizen in 1995. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in 1982 and became a strong prayer warrior and intercessor for all her family. Her steadfast faith and prayers resulted in the salvation of her entire family. She took great joy in watching her children serve the Lord and her grandchildren and great grandchildren praising and worshiping the Lord.

She loved all of God's creation and took great pride in her garden and her beautiful plants. She fed the birds in her yard, the squirrels and any stray cat that would wonder by her house. She cared deeply for all animals and donated to animal shelters throughout the city. She especially loved her precious dog Milo.

She loved all types of music, whether it was praising the Lord in church or joining to sing with a Mariachi group. She sang with such enthusiasm that it brought much joy to all her family. She knew the lyrics to every song and occasionally would remind the musicians.

At 94 she could still debate you on any topic, whether it was politics, current events, scripture and even finances. Her spiritual guidance, knowledge, wisdom and life experience was much sought after by her family.

Her presence was a blessing and her legacy of deep faith, strength, compassion and love will continue to live on in all her family. She will be dearly missed.
