LeFLORE, Mrs. Ola Mae - Age 94, passed away Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Hurley Medical Center.
Family hour 1:30 PM Saturday, October 19, 2024 from the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, 906 W. Flint Park Blvd., with funeral service commencing at 2:00 PM. Bro. Rigel Dawson, Interment River Rest Cemetery, G-4413 Flushing Rd. Friends and pallbearers will assemble at the Funeral Home 1:30 PM Saturday. Mrs. LeFlore will lie in state in the Chapel of Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home and may be viewed from 1:00 PM-6:00 PM Friday. Ola Mae LeFlore was born January 7, 1930 in Semenary, Mississippi, the daughter of Wilie and Virdie McLaurin. Ola Mae was a long term resident of
Flint, Michigan but always remained a Mississippi Girl at heart. She owned and operated The Flower Garden Nursery from 1993 until 2015. She loved flowers and plants and had a natural gift for horticulture. Ola received her GED from Beecher Highschool in May of 1985, an accomplishment that made her extremely proud. Ola encouraged those around her to try to get a good education. She attended the North Central Church of Christ for over 40 years and cherished her church family. She LOVED animals and was the mother to many fur and feathered babies through the years. She especially loved her Pomeranian Mae. In her spare time, she enjoyed visiting with family and friends, attending Active Adult Day Club, fishing, singing, dancing, traveling and going to the boat. Ola was proud to be the "Oldest of the McLaurin Family" and was honored to have helped raise many children throughout her lifetime. She strongly believed in receiving her flowers while she was alive so in lieu of flowers the family is asking that flowers or plants be donated to Nursing Homes or AFC homes so they may be enjoyed by patients who might not have anyone to give them flowers. Ola Mae LeFlore leaves to cherish her memory: daughter, Annie Turpin of
Flint, MI; 2 sisters, Artensia Brown of Long Beach, MS, and Fannie Clay of Gulfport, MS; 2 brothers, Clarence Brown of
Flint, MI, and James Brown Jr. of Long Beach, MS; sisters-in-law, Syleander McLaurin of Gulfport, MS and Patricia Legget of Harrisburg, MS; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including special friend, Laura Austin of
