It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Olden Otis Gainey. Mr. Gainey was 84 years old and passed away November 1, while at the McLeod Hospice House.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 at the Harris Creek Baptist Church directed by Norton Funeral Home, Hartsville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Harris Creek Cemetery.

Olden was born in Society Hill ,a son of the late Elwood Gainey and Lizzie Jane Davis Gainey. He retired from Galey and Lord after 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed by all who knew him. He loved his grandchildren and his cats especially Tipy.

Surviving is his wife, Dora Byrd Gainey, Society Hill; one son, Greg (Sylvia) Gainey, Chesterfield; two daughters, Lisa (Willard) Smoot, Atlanta, GA and Lorey McClam, Cheraw; five grandchildren and 8 greatchildren; three step daughters, Jean (Miller) Neisler, Pageland, Joyce (Patrick) Catoe, Pageland and Janet (Scott) Oliver, Jefferson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Lois Barefoot Gainey; brothers and sisters, Irene Edwards, Sophia Fraley, Emmarie Gulledge, Genieve McClain, Fronnie Tolson, Edward Gainey, Kenny Gainey, Delmas Tucker, Bill Tucker and Sudie Eury.
