Oleata V. Ehrlich
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Oleata Ehrlich. Oleata passed away on August 30th, 2025 at the age of 89 years of age. She was born in Farmington, Arkansas to Guy and Margie Davis on January 26, 1936. Oleata spent her early years growing up in Arkansas and helping raise her 4 younger sisters. Shortly after her graduation from Springdale High School, the family relocated to Klamath Falls, Oregon, where she met the love of her life, Fred Ehrlich while both were working for the local movie theater. Fred and Oleata were married in 1956 and relocated to Salem. Oleata stayed at home raising her two daughters to their early teens before going to work for Marion County during property tax season, and eventually working for and retiring from Marpo Credit Union (now Rivermark Credit Union). Oleata and Fred enjoyed spending time at Salem Elks Lodge # 336, where Fred served as Exalted Ruler in 1984 through 1985. They also enjoyed camping and occasional trips to Reno and all of the Oregon casinos.
Surviving are daughters Sue Spinney (Ed), Carol Meireis (Dan) of Salem, Oregon, Sister Kay Slater of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Sharon Rutledge of Salem, Oregon, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 63 years, Fred, sisters Joyce Smith and Helen Davis, and grandson Aaron Meireis.
Her daughters would like to thank Serenity Hospice and the staff at Lancaster Village for their loving care of Oleata and for their help in her last days.
Donations in Oleata's honor can be made to the Oregon Elks Association Betty Hice for Cancer Research, Inc., or a charity of your choosing.
