On Wednesday, October 16, 2024, Oleta Jane (Wilkerson) Roberson went to be with the Lord to begin her eternal life in Heaven. She was 83 years old. Born in Alex, Oklahoma, on December 20, 1940, Oleta Jane was the daughter of Edward Warren Wilkerson and Irene Marie (Stanley) Wilkerson. Both parents have preceded her in death. Oleta is also preceded by her husband, Erwin Jay Roberson, her son, Darrell Stephens, and one sister, Geneva Beets.
Left to cherish her memory are her children – Damon Campbell of Oklahoma City, Jimmy Stephens and wife Melody of Weatherford, and Sheila Dutton and husband Tom of Oklahoma City; her sister, Edna Fay Eddings and husband Tommy of McAlester; along with 14 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Oleta was a sweet, kind, classy, and loving lady with a caring heart, especially for other people. In her youth, Oleta attended Capitol Hill High School and eventually went on to have a fulfilling career in the health care industry, first in various nursing homes, and later, at Hillcrest Hospital. After her retirement, she shifted her focus to the things that mattered to her the most – faith, and family.
Oleta was a longtime, devoted member of the Triumph Family Worship Center. She was incredibly dedicated to her church where, over the years, she developed numerous close friendships with people that Oleta eventually considered to be her second family. She loved to dress up for church, and she especially loved her Pastor, Pastor LaDonna. When she wasn't attending services at Triumph, you could likely find Oleta faithfully reading her Bible at home.
She enjoyed growing and tending to her flowers in her spare time, loved going shopping, and spent much of her time watching westerns on the Grit network, episodes of The Bold and the Beautiful, and of course, OU football games every season. She enjoyed going out to dinner with her late husband Erwin, and she especially loved any excuse to ride with him in his truck. Oleta particularly looked forward to the occasions when her whole family could be together.
As we reflect on the rich, storied life of Oleta Jane Roberson, let us remember her for her unwavering faith in the Lord, her strength of character, and most of all, her devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. May Oleta rest in peace in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior.
