Joe Carl Murphy

Joe Carl Murphy, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed quietly from this earth to his heavenly home on August 9, 2025 at the age of 93.

Joe was a man of few words but his strength of character and will were the cornerstone of his family. He set the example for traditional values, worked hard to provide for his family, taught his children a strong work ethic, and gave willingly of his time to help neighbors and friends. He was honorably discharged from the Navy, went to diesel training school and became an expert in the field of machinery and diesel engines. He was funny and creative and won numerous awards at the Oklahoma State Fair over the years for his miniature models. He loved bird hunting and fishing for anything that would bite. He also loved treasure hunting and panning for gold, going on trips in the RV, taking vacations with extended family, and in recent years, he loved going to the casino and he never passed up an opportunity for a good breakfast or ice cream at Braums. But above all, he loved being with his wife, Jeanette, of 66 years, who preceded him into eternity in 2019. Other family members who have gone before him, his father W.R. Murphy, his mother Esther Murphy, his sisters, Dona Woodall, Bertie Armstrong, and Dorothy Kizer, his brother Mack Murphy, his daughter-in-law Mickey Murphy and granddaughter Christina Murphy. He is survived by his children, Mike Murphy, Jay Murphy along with his wife Robin, and Jaretta Murphy, his grandchildren Amber Fowler, and Jessica Deaton, and his brother John Murphy along with his wife Patricia, and numerous nephews and nieces.

We miss you dad. Thank you for your endearing love for mom, your faithful commitment to her and to your family. Thank you for all the long hours you put in to provide so well for your family. Thank you for having a heart of gold, genuine and kind and fun-loving. Thank you for being so full of grace when we made mistakes. Thank you for everything you did and for how much you loved all of us.

We will gather to honor Joe's life at 10am on Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Moore Funeral and Cremation with burial to follow at Moore City Cemetery.
