Luz Amelia Torres

Luz Amelia Torres, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, in Moore, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. Born on January 12, 1939, in the beautiful town of Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, she was the beloved daughter of Ricardo Torres and Santiaga Aponte.

Luz lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and devotion to her family. As a caretaker to the elderly, she found not just a job, but a true calling. One that reflected her nurturing spirit. Her dedication to caring for others was a reflection of the deep kindness and patience that defined her character.

Outside of her work, Luz found great joy in life's simple pleasures. She had a deep love for gardening, often spending time tending to her plants with the same tenderness she gave to those around her. Her skillful hands also brought beauty and comfort through crocheting, a craft she used to lovingly create gifts for her loved ones. Family was always at the center of Luz's world, and she gave her heart fully to those she held dear. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family, preparing meals, or simply enjoying their presence.

She often expressed her love through acts of service, especially through keeping a clean and welcoming home. Luz took great pride in her home and would often say how much she loved cleaning. Her space always reflected warmth, order, and the sense of peace she carried within her.

Luz leaves behind a powerful legacy of love, resilience, and generosity. She is survived by her devoted children: Jorge, Heriberto, Ivelisse, Jose, and Alexcy. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Annette, Ivan, Ricardo, Mayralee, Sheila, Jocelyn, Emonie, Erick, Heriberto, and Kevin; her fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and her three sisters and three brothers, all of whom she deeply loved and held close in her heart.

She is preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Mayra, whose memory she carried with her always.

Luz will be remembered not only for the roles she played in her family, but for the quiet strength, gentle humor, and unwavering faith that touched everyone who had the honor of knowing her. Her love will continue to live on through the generations she helped raise, and the memories she left behind.
