Olga Barfield, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2022, in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Born on September 15,1916, in Centralia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anastatia Lesko Palko and Theodor F. Palko. She was married to the love of her life, Clarence Fletcher Barfield for 51 years. They had a wonderful life raising their two daughters, Jeanette and Carolyn. Their time together began in Pennsylvania and then the family moved to the Crowell Community in Taylor County, GA. Olga was an amazing homemaker and loved living on the farm. After her husband passed away in 1986, she moved to Allendale, SC to be closer to family. She later enjoyed the coastal life at Hilton Head Island, SC for many years where she loved gathering with her neighbors on Hollyberry Lane. For the past 10 years she resided at Franke at Seaside in Mount Pleasant, SC. She loved visiting with her family, playing bingo and attending many social events with her friends. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed cooking for her loved ones. She loved to read, sew, and do crossword puzzles. She created some beautiful crewel embroidery pieces over the years and loved teaching new members in her Needlepoint Club. Olga had a strong faith and was a member of the Fort Valley Catholic Church and the Holy Family Catholic Church on Hilton Head Island. She was known as "Nana" to her family as well as many of their friends. She was loved by everyone who knew her. Olga is survived by her seven grandchildren that she adored: Dennis Steven Whatley (Kimey) of Piedmont, SC, David Wallace Whatley of Awendaw, SC, Paul Dane Whatley (Kea) of Isle of Palms, SC, Cathy Cutcliff Pettepher (David) of Nashville, TN, Christopher Alan Cutcliff of Atlanta, GA, James Craig Cutcliff of Chattanooga, TN, and Andrew Cyle Cutcliff (Kim) of Birmingham, AL; thirteen great-grandchildren, Caroline Whatley Bolt (Nathan), Samuel Whatley (Morganne), Lillian Whatley, Lauren Whatley, Glenn Whatley, Harrison Whatley, Wallace Ann Whatley, Erin Pettepher, Matthew Pettepher, Lauren Cutcliff, Christian Cutcliff, Emma Cutcliff and Colin Cutcliff; as well as many nieces and nephews. In her last year, she loved bragging about her great-great grandchildren, Margaret Faye Bolt and Fletcher Thomas Whatley. Their visits brought her so much joy! The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at Franke at Seaside, Paris Goldston, Lutheran Hospice, and her special caretakers: Jeanette Lincoln and LaTarsha Horlback. She loved them like family. Ms. Olga was an absolute treasure, loved by so many. When my own grandmother passed shortly after I began working at Franke, Ms. Olga was there. I called her "granny", and she´d smile and tell me how much she loved me. You all were so lucky to have such an amazing friend, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother. What an amazing, strong, loving, and absolutely wonderful woman she was. 105, a life well lived. She will be forever missed, and always in my memories. My thoughts are with the family today, Ms. Olga spoke of each and every one of you often. She was so proud! Rest in Peace my sweet, sweet friend. Love you always...
