Olga Sonja Ford, 88 years of age has passed on Saturday April 30,
2022 at her home. Olga lived in Conway So. Carolina for the past
two years. Her previous addresses were in Egg Harbor Twp. New
Jersey, Dover Delaware, Lake Tahoe California and Reno Nevada,
where she resided with her husband Lawrence Michael Ford.
She has always worked for the casino's in Nevada in the food
department as a Gourmet Chef for banquets over twenty years. She
decorated food platers, carved ice statues, made special salads and
took care of special parties.
She was born in Pare' Kediri Indonesia was raised in Surubia. She
was a survivor of the Japanese WWII prison camp and then stayed
in Indonesia until 1951 when she met her first husband Carl Hanser.
They stayed there for five more years and moved to the Netherlands.
After three years there she, Carl and their daughter immigrated to the
USA in1960 and was directed to the west coast to live.
When Olga was younger she loved to dance. When a good tune on
the radio was played, her foot would tap with the beat. Her dance
partner was her younger brother Joost Neijndorff. She enjoyed to
knit and crochet and what ever items were done, she would donate
to nursing homes, and the children. Her special donations were To
the Paralized Veterans and St. Jude's. She was also a member of the
Seventh Day Adventist Church.
She is survived by her daughter Hedy Laviolette, son in law Paul
Laviolette, Grand daughter Stacy DeRose, Grand son in law Michael
DeRose, Grand son Paul Laviolette, Grand daughter in law Jessica
Laviolette. She also has six beautiful Great granddaughters, Sara
DeRose, Emily DeRose, Mary DeRose, Krista Laviolette, Julie
Laviolette and Kimber Laviolette.
There will be no funeral service here in South Carolina. After her
cremation she will be taken to New Castle County Cemetery in
Delaware and a small service will be held there where her husband
lies.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest contribution be made to her
church Parkway So. Seventh Day Adventist church in Marmora NJ or
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
