Olin started his career in the printing industry in 1953 with Durham Printing of Asheboro NC. In 1960 he and Don and Waldo Durham partnered to purchase Lambert Printing Co., of which Olin was the sole operator.
In 1967 Olin bought the partners out and moved the business to 429 Fayetteville St. and changed the name to Lee Printing Co. From this location, he not only provided printing services for his community, but Lee Printing became a staple in the community. His influence in the community and reputation of integrity and fairness helped him own and operate this very successful business until 2004, when he retired and sold the business to Bill and Rodney Tyler of Village Printing.
Olin and his wife Maxine spent their lives investing into the lives of so many people, their church, their self-owned business, and their community. Starting with their family, they were always supportive, keeping their children involved in church, school, sporting activities, music, and so many other areas. Their love for God and family drove them and motivated them build a family that has many tentacles that continue to touch so many people across the country. Olin's greatest joy was to spend time with family as he did over the recent holiday season. He celebrated his 90th birthday in September and said that the surprise birthday party that was held for him where all his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids attended, was the "best day of his life!" Olin and Maxine also loved to travel during their retirement years and took many trips with family and great friends in the community.
God, family, church, community and business, was Olin's mantra and order of priorities his whole life. He lived that out by tirelessly managing his time and resources so he could be involved in so many lives and so many different arenas of life. He and Maxine have left a legacy of faith, love, service, integrity, leadership, and a commitment to God that will continue to keep them in the lives and memories of so many people.
The family would like to express a special thanks to many of you who have supported Mom and Dad over the years, and to the family, with your prayers, visits, cards, calls and texts.
We would like to also thank a very close family friend and former employee of Lee Printing Co. for over 18 years, Cynthia Hall. The relationship between an employer and employee seldom involves friendship and empathy. Cynthia was an employee and coworker that became a selfless caregiver. After Olin moved to Terra Bella Assisted Living Center, Cynthia spent many hours as a dear friend to Olin, visiting him almost daily. Her love for Olin and Maxine, and the time she spent with Olin, was a great encouragement and tremendous help not only to him, but to the family. We will forever be grateful for her expression of love and friendship.
The way Olin would want to be remembered pales in comparison to the way we remember him. He lived his life with unassuming integrity and authenticity leaving an indelible mark on his family, his faith and business community. The mention of his name was always synonymous with strong conviction and character.
