Olive Boots, 97,
Minot, ND, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Edgewood on 10th.
Olive Mae Erb was born July 4, 1928, at her grandparents' farm home in Ward County, ND. She was a daughter of Clayton and Laura (Peterson) Erb. After graduating from Ryder High School in 1946, she worked as a receptionist at Trinity Hospital in Minot until her marriage to Harold Giffey in 1946. They made their home on a farm near Roseglen, ND, where they raised their sons.
In 1970, Olive began employment as Clerk at the Roseglen Post Office and was later appointed Postmaster in 1974. In 1984, she married Warren Boots. They lived in Roseglen and Parshall and had established their retirement home near Emmet when Warren passed away in 1989. After retiring from the Post Office in 1990, she moved to
Garrison, ND. In 1993, she moved to Minot, where her children, Gary, Gardell (Connie), and Gerald (Lerri) live. Garlyn (Tammy) live at
Fergus Falls, MN, and Greg lives near Roseglen. In 2001, Olive joined Our Savior Lutheran Church in Minot.
Olive enjoyed her retirement. Family was always number one to her, and traveling throughout the United States on Bus Tours and the many, many wonderful friends she had filled her life with happiness.
Surviving family includes: sons, Garlyn (Tammy) Giffey, Gardell (Connie) Giffey, Gerald (Lerri) Giffey, Greg Giffey, Roseglen; grandchildren, Tom (Laurie) Giffey, Terri (Jesse) Warren, Jason (Julie) Giffey, Jared (Nickie) Giffey, Jenny (Bryan) Albertson, Janessa (Eric) Spichal, Karlene (Richard) Chruszch, Kim (John) Hudson, Melissa Carlson, Tyler Giffey, Broc (Amanda) Giffey, Allison (Dustin) Auch, Chris Carlson, and Chanda (Mike) Stelts; great-grandchildren, Ellie Warren, Kameron and Kelsey Giffey, Mazie Reinen, Sydney Hanson, Gracee, Avery and Hattie Albertson, Jaxon and Livi Spichal, Lacey and Brandon Chruszch, MaKayla Adams, Megan, and Mariah Hudson, Joran, Terrell and Alliyah Carlson, Lily Giffey, Madison Giffey, Braya Auch, Hugh, Beckham, and Parc Giffey, Caleb, Jamian and Conrad Stelts; 10 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Giffey; sister, Sheryl Tolson; sisters-in-law, LaRae Misslin, Betty Erb; brother-in-law, Lynn (Shirley) Boots; and aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Olive was preceded in death by her father and mother; son, Gary Giffey; husband, Warren Boots; brothers, Dale Erb and Gerald Erb; sisters, Joyce Fleck and Shirley Schive; and an infant sister; brother-in-law, Jeff Tolson.
Funeral: Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 10:30 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Minot.
Private Family Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens,
Minot, ND.
Visitation: Monday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
