Olive Ann (Templeton) March of
West Yarmouth, MA died on December 29, 2025 one month shy of her 97th birthday.
Born in
Queens, NY on January 29, 1929, Olive (or, Oatsie, as she was also known) was the daughter of Olive and Bryce Templeton. She grew up in
Queens Village, NY and
Mountain Lakes, NJ and graduated in the Class of 1953 at Vermont Junior College (now Norwich University). In 1953, she married Hugh N. March of Needham, MA, who predeceased her in 2014.
Olive and Hugh maintained homes in
Duxbury, MA,
Millersville, PA then
Old Lyme, CT until they retired to Cape Cod in 1990. She was an active member of all the communities where they lived. In their retirement, they deeply enjoyed their life on the Cape spending time with friends on and around the water. Olive was an active member of St. David's Episcopal Church, where she served on the Vestry, and was a longtime volunteer with the Yarmouth libraries. She spent many happy hours quilting in-between entertaining family and friends.
Olive was always up for adventure and was fortunate to travel throughout the US, Caribbean, Europe and Asia. She will be best remembered for her creativity, enjoyment of life, enduring sense of humor and dedication to her family. She was beloved by many and will be dearly missed.
Olive was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Bryce and Dorothy Templeton of
Exton, PA. She is survived by her three children: Jennifer M. McAdoo and her husband, Tom, of Cumberland, Maine, Deborah M. Durkee and her husband, Bob, of
Brookfield, VT and Kenneth H. March and his wife, Judy, of
Jamestown, RI. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Travis (Patty) and Caleb (Madelyn) Burns, William and Alexander McAdoo, Kyle (Caroline) and Lindsay March, Josh (Liz) and Katelyn Durkee along with two great-grandchildren: Jackson and Cooper Burns, as well as a large extended family that includes numerous nieces and nephews.
A private interment will be held at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, MA with a memorial service scheduled in the spring at St. David's Episcopal Church, South Yarmouth. There will be no calling hours.
