It is with great sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of Oliver Atreus Hamby, who left this world on March 27, 2026, at the tender age of just over a month. Born on February 3, 2026, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Oliver’s brief life touched those around him with a preciousness and a gentle spirit that will forever remain in their hearts.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his parents, Travis Hamby and Katie Thorne, who cherished their son dearly during his brief but meaningful time. Oliver’s paternal grandfather, William Roth, and his wife Michelle, along with his paternal grandmother, Beth Marler, and her husband Marty. Great grandmother Sharon Tucker, along with aunts and uncles, Heather Nicely, Michael Tucker, Matthew and Brianna Roth, and Christopher Marler with Charlotte.
We honor the memory of Oliver’s maternal grandparents, Terry and Katherine Thorne, who preceded him in death, as well as his paternal great-grandparents, Willie and Maggie Roth, and maternal great-grandparents, Harold and Katie Mills and Myles and Brenda Thorne.
A visitation to celebrate Oliver’s life will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The J.F. Floyd Mortuary, 235 N Church St, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
We hold close to our hearts the beauty of his brief presence in our lives and the unmeasurable love that will forever echo in the hearts of his family. Rest peacefully, dear Oliver, within the arms of love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of Ollie, to March of Dimes, www/marchofdimes.org or St. Jude Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org
