Obituary of Oliver "Ollie" Harold Taylor
Oliver "Ollie" Harold Taylor passed away in Pearland, Texas, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Ollie is preceded in death by his parents, Cleveland and Irma (Spellman) Taylor; siblings, David Taylor, Cleveland Taylor Jr, Joseph Taylor, and Eula Maye Diggs. Left to cherish Ollie's memory are Patricia Taylor; sons, Dwain Taylor, Delvone Brockett, Matt Taylor and wife Bobbi, Blake Taylor, Brent Taylor; daughters, Natasha Taylor, Tracee Taylor, Ollisha "Ollie" Taylor; Krystal Taylor; sisters, Elaine Moore, Wilma Phillips, Dorothy Rhodes; grandchildren, Dwain Jr, Payton, Darius, Delvone Jr, Vanessa, Sunni, Chance, Eugene, Tralyn, Kaitlyn, Jaelyn, Julian, Rhian, Andersen, Syvin, Luna; great grandchildren, Luna, Larkyn, Legend T, Kobe, Luca, Lynnox, Ka'Jalyn, Ka'Miyah, Ka'Liana, London, Legend; and a host of many other family and friends.
Ollie was a down to earth, simple man with a charitable soul; and a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather, family man, and friend. You could always count on him to give wise advice, whether it was solicited or not. He was always ready with a joke and was a well-known shit-talker. As a former professional basketball player known for his remarkable 46-inch vertical leap, despite being 6-foot-2, he played as a forward at the University of Houston. Ollie was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers and played for the Nets, San Diego Conquistadors, and Carolina Cougars. Ollie enjoyed a successful career with United Airlines as an aviation mechanic, retiring after 37 years of service. In his spare time, he played competitive softball in a senior league, enjoyed watching the news, sports, westerns, and drinking good whiskey. Ollie will be greatly missed by all of those who were fortunate enough to know and love him.
Funeral Services will be held for Olllie on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. His family will receive guests during visitation from 4:00 t0 6:00 pm, with the service commencing at 6:00 pm. An additional visitation will be held for Ollie on Friday, April 25, 2025, at McCall's Bronxwood Funeral Home in Bronx, NY. Guests will be received from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a graveside interment service at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ, at 1:15 pm.

To my teammate and roommate 1966/67 at San Jacinto JUCO. You were from the Bronx and me from the Jersey Shore. Waiting for the flight to Houston from JFK we struck up a conversation. Assistant coach Rucker met us and off we went to a motel that 5 guys would call home for the next 9 months. When we worked out the next day I couldn't believe my eyes as you soared thru the air. As the year went on we kept winning and were ranked #2 in the country. On too the National tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas where we fell 1 point short of winning tne National Championship. I could go on and on.
I send Ollie's entire family my sincerest condolences and may he Rest In Eternal Peace.

Warm Regards,
Steve Cutillo
