Obituary published on Legacy.com by Richardson Funeral Home on Dec. 9, 2025.
Ollie M. "Kissie" Hart, 98, passed away in the early morning Saturday, December 6, 2024, at St. Joseph Mt. Sterling. She was born June 18, 1927 to the late G. Blaine and Alma Toy Hart at their home on Rose Run in Bath County. Miss Kissie was a member of the 1945 graduating class of Bath County High School. She completed her undergraduate studies in Elementary Education at Morehead State University and had a master's degree from the University of Kentucky. She was a dedicated educator for 38 years in the public school. She began her teaching in Bourbon County, and then went to Mays Lick to teach for a short time. Her longest tenure was at Owingsville Elementary School. She particularly loved working in the summer Head Start Program. Despite not having children of her own, she loved her students. She often referred to them as her "little darlings".
Miss Kissie was a founding member of the Owingsville First Church of God where she attended services regularly. The church's ladies fellowship, Women of the Church of God, was a very meaningful part of her life. The Owingsville First Church of God School offered a wonderful opportunity for her to volunteer and continue her role as an educator for years after her retirement. She served in many roles as a church officer, encourager or prayer partner, whatever was needed. She was intelligent, humble, faithful, dependable and full of wit. She had so many great friends and close neighbors that she was so thankful for. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Miss Kissie is survived by her two nieces, Ann H. (Benny) Whisman and Della H. (Maverick) Matthews, her sister in law, Norma Hart, six great-nieces and great-nephews, Chip (Jennifer) Hart, Jonathan (Annie) Hart, Ben Whisman, Rex Dale "Doodle" (Kayla) Crouch, Sarah (Kyle) Bradley, and Elizabeth (Jordan) Clevenger. She is also survived by a host of many other friends and family.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles B. Hart, her sister, Virginia H. Reynolds, and her nephew, Chuck Hart.
The family wishes to extend a personal thank you to the staff at Windsor Personal Care for their great care.
