Ollie N. Watson, Jr., age 89, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025. Born on September 15, 1935, in Charleston, Ollie lived a life of quiet strength, steady faith, and deep love for his family, friends, and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ollie Watson and Effie Harris Watson; his first wife, Loretta Talbott Watson; his second wife Lora Hixson Watson; siblings Ted Watson, Bobby Watson, Betty Elkins, and Francis Hodges; and his beloved grandson, Jeffrey Clark.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife of 34 years, Linda J. Watson. He is also survived by his daughters Debbie Clark (David) and Lisa Lewis (Don); stepchildren Scarlett Zicafoose (Sam) and Mickey Justice; grandchildren Kelly R. Gower (William), Emma Clark, Jeremy Litton (Ashley), Macy Litton, Andrew Zicafoose (Kella), Linsey Justice-Guiden (Tim), and Logan Lacy; great-grandchildren Nathan Gower, Levi, Gavin, Julianne, and Clairah Zicafoose; and his nephew T.N. Watson.
Ollie was a proud and skilled employee of Lowry Masonry. His craftsmanship can be seen across numerous buildings in Charleston and several local high schools, a lasting legacy of hard work and dedication. Beyond his trade, Ollie found great joy in hunting, fishing, and traveling, and he was especially known for his talent in woodworking. He lovingly crafted and gave away many wooden crosses, each one a reflection of his faith and generosity.
A faithful member of the Dunbar Church of God in Dunbar, West Virginia, Ollie served his community and church with pride. He was a dedicated member of the Board of Trustees and took great joy in working on the Craigsville Camp Grounds.
Ollie's life was one marked by love, faith, and service. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
This is not good-bye, but a see you later.
A tribute to the life of Ollie will be 2:00 PM Sunday August 31, 2025 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
