Omega Chisum, 84, of Pampa, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 in Pampa.
Services will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Pampa with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Omega was born to Edna and Edgar Crutcher on December 12, 1938 in Celina, Tx. She was the tenth of eleven children for Edna and Edgar. She graduated from Lefors High School in 1957. Soon after graduation, she married the love of her life, Warren Chisum in Pampa. On October 12, 2022, they celebrated 65 years of marriage. They raised two children in Pampa and helped rear their six grandkids and many great grandkids over the years.
She and Warren served the citizens of the Panhandle for 25 years; representing them at Austin from 1989-2013. Omega was very active in the Legislative Ladies Club in Austin and served as President from 1993-1994. She made many lifelong friends there. Omega worked alongside Warren in the family business running the day-to-day operations at Chisum Ranch. She and Warren were always together and enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Canada in their spare time. On these trips, she would often acquire a new doll for her collection. Whether it was square-dancing or talking, they just enjoyed each other's company.
Omega loved the Lord and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She also volunteered at Good Sam's and Meals on Wheels for many years. Omega enjoyed hosting her friends and family and looked forward to playing cards with the ladies each month.
For 17 years, Omega enjoyed hosting the Chisum Ranch Rodeo. This was an innovative way to introduce members of state government to the West Texas way of life. She was proud to showcase her hometown and all that it has to offer. Omega always worked hard to make it a memorable experience.
The Christmas season was one of her favorite times of year. She loved having all of her family together, decorating, and cooking for everyone. Omega was one of eleven children, which made it difficult for them to be able to spend the holidays together. Therefore, they made their family reunions “Christmas in July” so that all of her siblings and their families would come together.
Omega truly loved her family and was proud to be called “Mim” by her six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and two sisters; and son-in-law, Dennis Laycock.
Survivors include her husband, Warren of the home; daughter, Kim Laycock of Pampa; son, Jeff Chisum and wife Leigh of Pampa; sister, Wanell Coleman of Salt Lake City, Utah; six grandchildren, Dustin Laycock and wife Amanda of Austin, Ashley Holzer and husband Jay of Santa Monica, California, Brittany Martin and husband Tyler of Pampa, Blake Chisum and wife Ashley of Pampa, Isaiah Chisum of Kansas City, Missouri, and Emma Chisum of Pampa; six great grandchildren, Kendall Laycock of Austin, Scout Holzer, Sloane Holzer, and Posy Holzer all of Santa Monica, California, and Madeleine Martin and Bridger Chisum both of Pampa.
Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, 203 N. West St., Pampa, Texas 79065.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 13, 2023 from 6:00-7:30 PM.

Omega and Warren have been VERY special to me since the first time I met Warren in the State Capitol many years ago. Though Omega has left us physically, she will never leave us spiritually. She and Warren will forever be the Team they always were.
I will never forget the humbleness and caring I felt when they took the time to come to Austin and attend my daughter's wedding many years ago. What a caring and loving couple they will always be to me and my family !! Wayne T Franke
