Oney Ray Otten, 71, of Huntsville, MO, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at North Village Park in Moberly, MO.
Oney was born on September 20, 1954, in Hannibal, MO, to Marion and Geraldine (Roland) Otten. He graduated from Hannibal Senior High School in 1972, attended John Wood Community College in Quincy, and then graduated from Hannibal LaGrange University in 1984 with a degree in drafting. In 1984, he moved to Troy, MO, and accepted a position with General Motors at Wentzville, MO, where he worked for more than 10 years. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Riverview Church of the Nazarene.
Oney owned and operated Good “Timin” Karaoke in Hannibal and enjoyed playing frisbee golf, reading, walking, playing guitar and giving guitar lessons to others. He introduced several best friends to the karaoke business. His family and friends will always remember him for his outgoing personality, never meeting a stranger, ability to put a smile on your face and willingness to give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bill Otten, Frank Otten, of Hannibal, MO; sisters, Sue Otten and Donna Newland, of Hannibal, MO; and brother by heart, Andy Sunderland.
Oney is survived by his daughters, Calley (Will) Humphrey, of St. Peters, MO, and Neva (Phil) Wallsmith, of Troy, MO; grandsons, Alaric Otten, of St. Peters, MO, Michael Wallsmith, of Troy, MO; granddaughter, Taylor (Ryan) Doverspike, of St. Peters, MO; four step-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; bonus children/sidekicks (who stuck by Oney’s side during his struggles with dementia), Shawn (Mary) Otten, of Hannibal, MO, Jennifer (Justin) Wamsley, of Brumley, MO, Lee (Amy) Wamsley, Tony (Melissa) Wamsley, Wayne (Norma) Wamsley, all of Moberly, MO; sisters, Kathryn Otten, of Huntsville, MO, and Judy Kurz, of Hannibal, MO; and brother, Bob (Belinda) Otten, of Hannibal, MO; loyal friends, Mike and Patsy Yanczer, of Hannibal, MO, Kevin and Mary Tyler, of Troy, MO; and many other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Hannibal, MO, at a later date.
