Opal R. Daniels, 90, of Evansville, Indiana formerly of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. The Daviess County native was born April 27, 1933, to the late Onnie J. Smeathers and Nell Winkler Smeathers. Opal grew up in Owensboro and moved to Evansville in 1949 where she met her future husband from Illinois. She worked at Shane’s Manufacturing from which she retired. In addition to her parents, Opal also was preceded in death by her son, Lindy Keith Daniels in 2019 and her siblings, Thurman Smeathers, Kenneth Smeathers, Jewell Hughart and Ruby Pritchard.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Marvin Daniels and his wife Karen of Evansville; daughter in law, Debbie Daniels; four granddaughters and their spouses; nine great grandchildren all of Evansville; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Opal Daniels will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, December 27 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation from noon until the time of the service. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
