Opal Leoma Fightmaster

Opal Leoma (Skaggs) Fightmaster, 103, widow of Gordon William Fightmaster, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Cedar Ridge Health Campus in Cynthiana, Kentucky. She was born January 28, 1921 in Edmonson County, Kentucky, daughter of the late George Washington and Cora Mae (Sanders) Skaggs. She was a member of Sadieville Christian Church and she enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and raising cattle, tobacco, and chickens.
Opal married Gordon W. Fightmaster in 1943, and family was everything to her. She was a wonderful mom, grandma, and cook. Opal also found pleasure in her annual vacations to Florida with family and traveling with her senior group.
Opal will be lovingly remembered by her children, Katie Carole Tiemann, Linda Lee Gillispie, and Robert Keith (Renita) Fightmaster; her four grandchildren, Gordon Fightmaster, Amy (Tom) Cook, Karen (Keith) Lancaster and Katie (David) Sankbeil; five great-grandchildren, Keith Fightmaster, Jonathan Fightmaster, Dakota "Koty" Ritchie, Elise Lancaster and Lillian "Lillie" Cook; four great-great-grandchildren, Karleigh, Kinsleigh, Lucas and Sam Fightmaster. In addition to her husband and her parents, Opal was preceded in death by four sisters and six brothers. As well as her son-in-law Bobby Gillispie and special friends Louise Burgess, Christine "Cricket" Gillispie and Ruby Proctor.
Graveside service will be held at 11am on Saturday, June 22 at Sadieville Cemetery with Pastor Randy Wilson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Opal's memory to your charity of choice.
