Opal Leigh Gasque, 91, of Leighton, AL, was born on August 10, 1934, and on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Brad Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens, Tuscumbia
Opal co-founded Rawhide Erection Company alongside her husband, yet her greatest joy was her family. Known affectionately as "Granny", she cherished her grandchildren and delighted in nurturing those she loved.
Welcoming her home is her best friend and loving husband of sixty years, Ben "Jabo" Gasque; her devoted son, Benny Gasque; her parents, Homer Sockwell and Maggie Fisher Sockwell; and her grandson-in-law, Drew Brand.
Opal leaves behind a legacy of love carried on by her son, Jackie Gasque, and daughter-in-law, Vickie Gasque. Her grandchildren, Renee Wilkinson (Chris), Justin Gasque (Amanda), Jason Gasque, Dale Gasque, Leigh Gasque, Jennifer Brand, Thomas Gasque (Katelyn), Britany Sweet (Sam), and Jarett Gasque brought her endless pride and joy. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Lauren (Patrick), Jake (Bailey), Olivia, Lydia, Maggie, Jada, Mason, William, Issac, Kaylee, Autumn, and Forrest; and great-great-grandchildren, Dawson, Eleanor, Josie, and Oliver.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Opal's family expresses special thanks to Susan Cochran, Karen Pool, Tina Baskins, Wayne Peden, Dr. Eric Santiago, and the staff at NAMC step down unit.
