It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Michele Elaine Gasque, who left this world on November 9, 2025, in Florence, South Carolina. Born in Columbia in 1964 to Patricia and Badger Gasque, Michele lived a vibrant life marked by laughter, perseverance, and an unwavering spirit of generosity.
From a young age, Michele was known for her talkative nature and vibrant personality. She had a gift for storytelling and could light up any room with her humor and warmth. That spark never faded, it grew stronger with time, becoming one of her most cherished traits.
Michele attended Richland Northeast High School and went on to study Interior Design at the University of South Carolina, where she graduated with Cum Laude honors in 1986 and was a proud member of Kappa Sigma. Her creativity and determination were evident in everything she pursued.
Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was being a devoted mother to her two daughters, Alexis Robinson of Greenville, SC, and Ashley Whittemore of Mount Pleasant, SC. Michele often said their birth changed her life for the better, and she poured her heart into raising them with love, support, and pride. She cherished movie nights filled with Chinese food and snuggles, always finding ways to make everyday moments feel special.
Michele also had a deep love for animals. Her cat and dog were not just pets, they were her babies, constant companions, and a source of daily joy. She doted on them with the same warmth and devotion she gave her family, and they brought her comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.
Michele was a hard worker, determined to overcome life's challenges with grace and grit. Yet, despite her strong-willed nature, she was deeply generous, always putting the needs of others before her own. Her guiding principle was to treat others as she wished to be treated, and she lived that truth daily. Her empathy and kindness touched countless lives, making her an inspirational figure to all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter Alexis Robinson, son-in-law Jason Robinson, and her beloved grandsons Gunner and Denver Robinson; daughter Ashley Whittemore; sister Rene Sutton and brother-in-law Ken Sutton; brother Rupert "Buddy" Gasque III; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will never forget the love she brought into their lives.
Michele was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and Badger Gasque, and her ex-husband Kerry Whittemore.
Her legacy is one of kindness, selflessness, and compassion. Michele was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off her back, always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her memory will remain a beacon of strength, inspiring those she leaves behind to live with generosity and heart.
Isaiah 66:13 "As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you."
