Our Beloved Opal Lorene McMaster Hansen went to be with our Lord June 20,2024. She was one of seven children born to Charles Dusan Young and Clara Mae McSween on October 20, 1929, in Hemphill, Texas. Opal was a proud Cajun that made some Laitue (delicious) Gumbo and Creole that was absolutely loved by many.
Opal and her husband managed and owned many businesses over the years until they bought and operated a bait stand, River Lake Drive Inn on Lake Corpus Christi until the passing of her husband Jim. Opal then retired.
Opal is proceeded in death by her loving husband James H. McMaster, a daughter Erica Lynn Cole, her parents Charles and Clara Young, brothers; Leo and Ted Young, Sisters; Mae Herndon, Betty Whitley, Bea Evens, and Marie Garner; one grandson Chad Teague, one great granddaughter Allison Black and One great grandson Levi Cole.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Sandra Black (Richard) two children, three grandchildren, one great grandchild; Marie Sheppard (Steve),eight children, twenty-two grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, fourteen great great grandchildren; Clarence Cole (Jody), four children, fourteen grandchildren, and Renata Teague (Owen), six children, nineteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews that loved her very much.
We want to thank all the wonderful nurses that helped take care of Opal at Windsor Calallen, especially her favorite Martie Salazar. We would also like to thank all the wonderful people at Astella Hospice for helping with Opal in her last days. We can not thank you all enough for caring for our Granny.
There will be services held at Sawyer George Funeral Home on Thursday, June 27,2024 at 11:00 AM with graveside services immediately after at Cenizo Hill Cemetery, Mathis, TX
