With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Opal Dianne Samson, affectionately known as Dianne by her loved ones; she passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 27th, 2024. Born to Augustus Singleton and Betty Yount on July 5, 1947, in Dayton, Ohio, Dianne was a radiant beacon of compassion, empathy, and reliability. Her spirited nature was infectious, touching every life she encountered. As an accountant in the finance industry, she was a reliable and dedicated professional. Yet, her true calling lay in her substantial contributions to her church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, VBS teacher, and prayer warrior.
Dianne's love for her family was unmistakable. She is survived by her sons, Paul (PJ) and Jeff Samson, her grandchildren Zavior, Zain, Kyrstin, Kylie, Abigail and Alexis who were the light of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Augustus Singleton and Betty Yount. Dianne's gentle soul was reflected in her love for collecting penguins and her selfless dedication to helping others. Her presence was a gift that will be sorely missed, but her memories will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 5:00 pm EDT at Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home, 1632 Wayne Avenue, Dayton, Ohio, 45410. The visitation and memorial gathering will follow at the same venue at 6:00 pm EDT.
Dianne's life was a testament to the teachings of Christianity, reflecting the verse from the Bible, Galatians 6:2, "Carry each other's burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." Her life was a living example of this verse, as she was always there to support those in need, be it through her church involvement or her personal life.
Services and great care have been entrusted to Schlientz & Moore Funeral Home and we invite you to join us in celebrating Dianne's life by sharing condolences, fond memories and photos of her. Her memorial page is a place where we can all remember and celebrate Dianne's compassionate, empathetic, reliable, and spirited spirit.

PJ, Jeff and family, I am so sorry for your loss.
I have been so blessed to have known your Mother.
She was the most caring and giving person, from a very young age.
She had the biggest heart.
I alway referred to her as "My Angel on Earth". May she now rest in Heaven!
