Opal Lee Waide

Opal Lee Waide, 102, of Carterville, IL formerly of Providence, KY passed away on Thursday March 12, 2026, at Parkway Manor in Marion, IL.

Mrs. Waide was born on January 28, 1924, in New Market, AL, the daughter of the late Mr. Isom Clevenger and Mrs. Mary Sharp Clevenger who passed due to complications from child birth, and raised by her step mother Lillian Clevenger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell on October 27, 2016, her sisters, Edna Earl Hook, Virginia Daire Capps, and JoAnne Clevenger, her brothers, L.J. (Chicken) Clevenger, and Wilburn (Doughboy) Clevenger.

Mrs. Waide was a lifetime member of the VFW Post # 308 Ladies Auxiliary in Marion, IL, playing Bingo, raising her kids, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Mrs. Waide is survived by her daughter, Brenda Waide of Mt. Vernon, IL; her sons, Birdie (Minty) Waide of Marion, IL; Roy (Jeanie) Waide of Energy, IL; Johnny (Angie) Waide of Herrin, IL; Rick (Leslie) Waide of Murray, KY. Her sisters, Betty Katheryn (Arlie) Stinnett and Giovannina Phillips both of Providence, KY; Eight grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, thirty- five great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandchild.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00PM on Thursday March 19, 2026, at Green Grove Cemetery with Bro. Johnnie Davis officiating.
