OPAL ANN WIDENER Opal Ann Widener age 92 of Lester passed away Sunday, August 26, 2007 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley. Born February 4, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Miley and Nora Belcher Mullins. Opal enjoyed cooking, traveling and church. She was employed by the State Hospital in Welch as a cook. She was a member of the Harper Free Methodist Church, Harper Road, Eccles, WV. She was the event coordinator at the church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Emory Widener; daughter, Barbara Widener; two sisters, Virginia Sisk and Ethel Simmons; and three brothers, Riley, Lacy, and Robert Mullins. Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Jo Ann Yates and her husband Keith of Fairdale; two sons, Bob Widener and his wife Polly of Crab Orchard and Dick Widener and his wife Sue of Princeton; son-in-law, Joseph Widener of Hamstead, MD; four grandchildren, Gail Orndorff and her husband Rick of Hanover, PA, Diane Mosley and her husband Jeff of Hamstead, MD, Amy Harrison and her husband Shane of Princeton, and Angela Cowger and her husband Mark of Beaver; 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday August 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Carl Sellards officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus, VA. Friends may gather with the family one-hour prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.blueridgefuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Blue Ridge Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV.
