Ophelia Chandler Obituary
Publish in a newspaper
July 4, 1943, to the late Robert L. and Evelyn Milner Poe of Guntersville. She was
employed forty years with Gold Kist Poultry (now Pilgrim's) as the Human Resources
Manager. She served on several Civic and Industrial boards including: The Industrial
Board of Guntersville, The Marshall-Jackson Mental Health Board, the Advisory Board
of Food & Science Department, Tuskegee University, The Guntersville City Board of
Education, and the Guntersville City Museum Board of Directors. She was a member of
the Lakeview Community Civic Organization.
She is survived by a daughter, Jacquelyn Clark (Kevin); three grandchildren, Jasmine,
Brooke, and Blake Clark; two sisters, Robbie Bussey and Lorraine Baxter; and one
brother, Walter Poe. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Jackie Poe, Linda
Poe, and Wilma Poe, in addition to her parents.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Guntersville Memorial Chapel
at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in the City Cemetery.

My fondest memories of Ophelia were from our annual Nobles Alexander Family Reunions. She was so refined, and poised. I always admired the beautiful linen outfits she loved to wear. Her peaceful (Mona Lisa) smile she always had will be held in my heart. Ophelia is at Rest Now. She fought a good fight and kept the faith. Rest in Heaven Ophelia. She will be forever in our hearts.
