Ora Mae (Davis) Bryant was born in Solgohachia, Arkansas on May 28, 1923. She was one of four children born to the union of Mary Agnes and Jasper Davis both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William F. Davis, Lee Ellis Davis and James H. Davis.
She moved from Hickory Hill to Blackwell, Arkansas when she was younger and went to school in Menifee. She moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1947. She was united in matrimony to the late Chester Lee Bryant on December 10, 1956. They were both employed at Missouri Pacific Railroad where she retired after 40 years of service.
She was baptized at an early age and attended Missionary Baptist Church in Kenwood, Arkansas. After moving to Kansas City, Missouri, she joined and became a faithful member of St. Stephen Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board for many years.
Ora lived most of her adult life in her cherished home on Kansas Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, where she was an avid gardener. She was a very giving person and often helped others in need whether they were relatives, friends, or strangers. She enjoyed attending family gatherings and would frequently host events at her home. She had a flare for fashion and an outfit for every occasion.
The Lord called Ora home following a short illness and brief stay at Monterey Park Nursing Home on Sunday, October 20, 2024, at the remarkable age of 101.
She leaves to cherish her memories the children of her three brothers: nephews Glenn Davis Sr., Harold Davis, Norman Davis (Marcia), Marvin Davis, Jerome Davis (Kimberly), Calvin Davis Sylvester Davis; nieces: Altamease Theriot, Stephanie Garrett (Ronnie), Theresa Davis, Johnny Mae Pleasant (James), Sandra Pauley, Sharon Parker, Mary (Patsy) Dawson and a host of grand-nephews, grand-nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday November 8, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Lawernce A. Jones & Sons Funeral Chapel 1800 East Linwood Blvd. KCMO 64109. Interment: Sunset Gardens.
