Ora Viola McCathron



Ora Viola McCathron, age 88, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Lovelace Hospital in Albuquerque, NM. Ora was born on July 21, 1932, in Bayfield, CO, to the late Ored Dale Hallsted and Viola Rose Wommer Hallsted. She graduated from college with a bachelor's degree. During her college days she met her future husband, Air Force Major Clifford G. McCathron. They were happily married until his passing in 2017. Ora and Clifford were the founders of the Ora V. and Clifford G. McCathron Engineering Scholarship and the Viola Wommer Hallsted Music Scholarship at Ora's mother's alma mater, Fort Lewis College. Ora had a great love of horses, riding, family cats and camping adventures with Clifford. Ora was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford, her parents, and her sister. Ora is survived by her niece, Cindy Korf, of North Platte, NE. Ora will be transported to Bayfield, CO, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Clifford.
