Ora Lee Terry, 85, beloved wife of Carl B. Terry for 71 years, passed away on August 7, 2024, in her home in Zionsville, Indiana surrounded by family. She was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia 19 years ago and fought a courageous battle while working with Carl at their swimming pool and spa business Terry Pool Company, Inc. in Carmel, Indiana.
Born in Halls Mills McGrady, North Carolina on January 24, 1939, to the late Herman and Ruth Handy she relocated to Augusta, Georgia where she met the love of her life and they had three children: daughters, Karla Stein and Karen Terry, and son, Carl A. (Kipp) Terry. She was blessed with three grandchildren: Ryan Stein (Kim) of Virginia, Matthew (Becky) Stein of New Jersey and Noel (Gabe) Thimlar of Indiana, as well as four great-grandchildren: Bryce and Bexley Stein, and Madelyn and Sophia Stein.
Ora Lee was also preceded in death by her siblings: Phyllis Palmer, Jerrell Handy, Helen Ziolkowski, and Pat Gould. She is survived by sister, Sue Greene.
A special thanks to the extraordinary medical team and staff at the IU Health Joe & Shelly Schwarz Cancer Center in Carmel, Indiana.
Services will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Simplicity Funeral and Cremation Care, 125 W. Sycamore St. Zionsville, Indiana 46077, with final resting place in Zionsville Cemetery in Zionsville, Indiana. Visitation from 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm with funeral at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 11550 N. Meridian Street, Carmel, Indiana 46032.
