Orence G. Carrasco

Orence Garcia Carrasco passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, at the age of 90. He was

born on October 18, 1934, to Estanislado and Carolina Carrasco.

Dad proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from May 31, 1954, to

February 29, 1956, and was a veteran of the Korean War. He returned home as a disabled veteran

and was honored with a Certificate of Military Service and three medals: the Korean Service

Medal, the United Nations Medal, and the National Defense Medal.

A steadfast supporter of the Marine Corps motto Semper Fidelis, Dad remained true to his Oath

to the Constitution of the United States. He was recognized with a Lifetime Achievement

Certificate for his dedication to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and was a proud member

of the American Legion. His commitment to fellow veterans extended through active

participation in the Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club and other organizations

supporting military service disabilities. He continued to honor his Marine brothers through his

membership in the Devil Dog Club at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico,

Virginia. He was also an active and proud member of the GI Forum for many years.

After earning his welding certificate from a trade school at Del Mar College, dad worked as a

metallizer at the Corpus Christi Army Depot until his retirement.

In his youth, dad worked as a caddy at local golf courses, eventually developing a passion for

golf. He became an avid golfer, participating in tournaments and sharing his love for the game

with his brothers, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and

playing billiards, competing and often winning in many tournaments.

Dad deeply cherished the time spent with family and was known for his generosity and dry sense

of humor. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather,

brother, and son.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephina Carrasco; his parents, Estanislado and

Carolina Carrasco; his brothers Crecencio, Herberto, Israel, Emede, and Carlos, and his

grandchildren Mario Carrasco Jr. and Alector Salinas.

Orence is survived by his children: Lydia (Gilbert) Trevino, Diamantina Carrasco, Mario

(Margo) Carrasco, Linda Carrasco, and Ramiro Carrasco (Becky). He is also survived by his

sisters: Esperanza Elizarraz, Gloria Ezzo, Lucy Perez, and Sylvia Madrid. As well as: 11

grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 10 great great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the ICU department at Spohn South Saratoga Hospital

for their compassion and care during our dad's final days. A special thank you to Belinda Carrasco for her

vital role in helping the family understand the medical terminology and processes, as well as to all family and

friends for their love and support during this difficult time.

The Pallbearers are Gilbert Trevino, Mario Carrasco, Mark Trevino, Joshua Trevino, Ramiro Carrasco Jr., Akeem Hornsby II, and the alternate is Ramiro Carrasco.
