Oris Donald "Don" Combee, Jr., passed away on February 11, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 85. Don was born and raised in Lakeland, Florida. He graduated from Lakeland High School in 1958. Don attended college at the University of Alabama and later became a bricklayer. As a bricklayer, he frequently travelled around the United States and Cuba. While working in Illinois, Don met Terry Taber in 1980 and they began dating. Don returned to Lakeland in December 1980 and Terry followed 6 months later with her two girls. Don and Terry were married on September 6, 1988.
Don was a member of Gapway Baptist Church, the Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge.
He loved sports and went to as many LHS football games as possible. He also loved Spring Training and watching the Tigers play baseball.
Don began working for the City of Lakeland as a Field Services Worker in September 1985 and retired in November 2002.
Don is survived by his wife Terry Taber Combee, his children Oris Donald Combee, III (Debbie) of Bradenton, Fl, Laurie Rewis (Brian) of Lakeland, Fl, Stacy Taber of Lakeland, Fl and his 5 grandchildren, Caleb, Logan, Kylie, Molly and Kenzie.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home – 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland, Florida.
