Orpha Dunnock, age 93, of Cincinnati, Ohio and most recently of Knoxville, Tennessee, has passed from this world to her eternal reward in Heaven on July 21, 2021. Orpha was born to Alfred and Nancy Bowling on March 24, 1929, in Confluence, Kentucky. An icon of Mt. Healthy and a fixture of A&A Restaurant for almost 40 years, she was always with a warm smile and a quick wit, and many long-standing friendships were made over many cups of coffee. Oftentimes, those who were down in their circumstances found a friend who would listen, a warm good meal, and no guest check to pay. Orpha was a strong woman, steel willed, never a quitter, and an eternal optimist when faced with adversity.
She also possessed a warm and caring personality, and a wonderful and often mischievous sense of humor. Even in her retirement and later years, she loved meeting new people and valued new friendships. Orpha loved the Lord and loved the Holy Bible from which she read and studied daily. She many times remarked that she learned something new and grew ever closer to the Lord, no matter how many times she had read through the Bible. Our loss of her in this life is but Heaven's gain.
Orpha is preceded in death by her daughter, Irma Sue Wade and great grandson, Brandon Fisher.
Orpha is survived by her daughters, Deborah Wheeler and Alberta Caughey; and sons, John Dunnock and Michael Moore; grandchildren, Kimberly Lynn Wheeler, Melanie Lynn Murray, Melissa Lynn Wheeler, David Fisher, Scott Fisher, Cheryl Lynn Fisher;
14 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of a memorial service, Orpha requested that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory is honored to serve the Dunnock family. Condolences may be left for the family at www. gentrygriffey.com
