Orrin Grant Solheim Jr., “Butch”, 76 years of age and resident of Forest Lake in Lake Zurich, Illinois for 53 years, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.

He was born on August 17, 1949, in Frankfort, Kentucky, to the late Ava (nee Vaughn) and Orrin Grant Solheim Sr. He was united in marriage to Carol Jean (nee DeMarco) Solheim on May 23, 1970, at St. Mary’s Church in Buffalo Grove, Illinois. The two enjoyed over 55 years of happiness, partnership, and love.

Butch will be remembered fondly for his warm, gregarious personality. A man who never knew a stranger, Butch could always be counted on for a kind, friendly word, even through the difficult times. Throughout his truck-driving career, he held various positions across industries. In his free time, Butch enjoyed fishing, NASCAR and drag races, as well as spending time with his cherished family and friends. He will be missed by many.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Carol J. Solheim; daughter, Kim (Jon) Ring; grandchildren, Michelle Chagdes, Kelly (Ryan) Tones, Serena Ring, Jeanna Ring, Sierra Ring, and Jesika Ring; great-grandchildren, Julia Ann Tones, Alyiah Marie Tones, Victoria Nicole Tones, Charlie Madison Tones, Jordan Rynnae Tones, and Taylor Elizabeth Tones; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ava Solheim (Bill) Gash; father Orrin G. Solheim Sr., daughter, Rynnae Solheim; in-laws, Shirley and Ernest DeMarco; and sister Patricia Pierce.

Private family services were held.
