Orvell Kohones

Orvell Robert Kohones, age 95, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Intermountain Health Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.
Orvell was born on January 23, 1930, at the family ranch in Miles City, Montana, the son of Kapiton and Minnie (Bellouse) Kohones. He attended Denny country school, near the family ranch completing an 8th grade education. At the completion of the 8th grade, as it was war time, he was needed to work on the family ranch. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country in Germany during peace time in the mid 1950's. Upon completion of his service in the Army, he returned to the family ranch and worked there the rest of his life. Over many years he and his brother, John, were a great team working together on the family ranch.
Orvell had a special love for farming and ranching, growing crops, haying, and working his Red Angus cattle. Orvell and his brother, John, would attend many livestock sales in Miles City as their favorite past time.
Orvell was the youngest of six children in his family and lived to be the oldest at 95 years. Orvell is survived by 3 nieces and their families; Betty Lou (Jerry) Beagley of Shepherd Montana; Roxie Wilson of Bellevue, Washington; and Pamella (Ted) Schreiber of Miles City, Montana. Orvell was preceded in death by his parents, Kapiton and Minnie Kohones; his brothers, Joe Kohones, George Kohones, John Kohones, and sisters Christine (Elmer) Gilbertson and Rose (Evert) Hoffman; his niece, Annabelle Taylor; his nephews, Delmar Kohones, Kenny Kohones, Wesley Gilbertson and Bruce Hoffman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 20th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow at the Eastern Montana State Veteran's Cemetery with Full Military Honors in Miles City. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting https://stevensonandsons.com.
