"Life has to end. Love doesn't."
Mitch Abloom
Orville Paul Salibad passed away on August 16, 2025, in Honolulu, Hawai'i, at the age of 65. He was a resident of Nanakuli since 2003. He was born on October 20, 1959, in Baguio City, Philippines. At the age of 10 he and his family came to live on Oahu. He loved the ocean and grew up spending much of his youth in the water in Waikiki.
Orville was known for his bold spirit, generous nature, empathetic heart, honesty and devotion to his family. He stood up for what he believed in, showed determination when faced with challenges, and approached life with the heart of a fighter. He always enjoyed volunteering and helping at the SPCA in Milil over the past several years. He loved history and was also the family historian-always sharing the stories that reminded us of our roots.
He spent most of the 1980s living in Texas, with his first wife Emelda Cabiles and son Travis, where he developed his skills in woodworking and carpentry. He moved back to Oahu in the 90's, joined the Carpenters Union and eventually founded his contracting business, Koalani Woodworks. Each project reflected his craftsmanship and pride. More than just a skilled woodworker, Orville was a true artist-he poured care, intention, and heart into everything he created.
Outside of work, he was always on the lookout for good surf, loved skateboarding and longboarding, and found peace relaxing at the beach. He never missed a sunset and often photographed it-along with the footprints of his beloved dogs in the sand duringmtheir daily beach walks. He had a passion for photography and loved capturing the beauty of everyday moments.
His Christian faith was a steady source of strength and guidance, shaping his character and how he cared for those around him. He especially cherished time spent with Linda and their many pets, whose companionship brought him great comfort and joy. Orville always made time to help others in need – both people and animals. He spent time every day making sure all the animals had food so that no one went hungry.
One memory that he loved to talk about was his role in one episode of Hawaii Five-O in the prison scene, he was so proud of that and it would make him happy to know it was included here.
Orville leaves behind his wife of 23 years, Linda Wiessner Salibad; his ex-wife, Emelda Cabiles Salibad, his son, Travis Salibad and wife Priscilla; his stepdaughter Johnna Kline and husband Rob; stepdaughter Shalee Paraoan and husband Jeremiah; and his grandchildren: Miah, Leila, Asia, Cuyler, Madison, Jessalyn, Amara, Sebastian, Keilani, and Kekoa.
He will also be deeply missed by his brother, Wilbur Salibad; his sister, Marie "Nani" Rosales and husband Joe; his brother-in-law, George Montgomery; his nephews, Ryan, Dylan, and Joseph; his niece, Cierra; and his grandniece, Kaia.
Orville is now reunited in heaven with his parents, Paul B. and Mamita Garcia Salibad; his sisters, Jacqueline Montgomery and Memory Joy Salibad; and his brother, Gary Salibad.
May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Like the ocean's endless embrace, may Orville's Aloha surround us always.
Death is not extinguishing the light;
It is putting out the light;
Because the dawn has come.
Forever in our hearts
Forever missed
