Orvis Mossestad

Orvis Mossestad of rural Plummer, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by his family in a place he called home almost his entire life – the family farm.
Born on July 25, 1946, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota, Orvis was the son of Oscar and Ruby (Anderson) Mossestad. He began his education in a rural farm school that was within walking distance of home before graduating from Pershing High School in Plummer in 1964.
On February 15, 1969, Orvis was united in marriage to Donna Cardinal at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, Minnesota. They shared 56 years of marriage and raised three children: Deb, Dale, and Brad. Orvis took great pride in his children, but even more in his five grandchildren – Sadie, Scout, Bodhi, Elory, and Rowan – who brought him immense joy.
Orvis spent his life working hard farming and in the construction field, including several years at RAM Builders. During his retirement years he was constantly looking for his next project and keeping busy is what kept him happy. He was always ready to lend a hand when needed. Orvis had a playful sense of humor, which he balanced beautifully with his often-serious demeanor. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing, playing cards, remained a loyal fan of Minnesota sports teams (most notably his grandchildren's teams), and kept up with current events.
He is survived by his loving wife Donna of rural Plummer; children Deb (Stacy) Buggle of Fort Collins, Colorado; Dale (Taya) Mossestad of Plummer; and Brad Mossestad of Shakopee, Minnesota; grandchildren Sadie and Scout Buggle, Bodhi, Elory, and Rowan Mossestad; sisters, Carole (Vernon) Konickson, Sharon (Larry) Efteland, and Arlys (Roger "Doc") Konickson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Ruby Mossestad, and his stepmother Edna Mossestad.
Mass of Christian Burial for Orvis will be held 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, Minnesota. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Brooks, Minnesota.
Orvis's memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and the many lives he touched throughout his years. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
