Oscar Levi Bailey, 96, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 5, 2026 at Clifton Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service (1:00 P.M.).

Oscar was born on September 7, 1929 in China Spring, TX. He grew up in McLennan County in the China Spring/Flat Rock area.

In 1948, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent 21 months at Okinawa and returned to the states where he enlisted in the reserves. Due to the Korean War, Oscar was called to serve again. They gave him an eleven-day refresher course and then sent him by boat to Korea. He was honorably discharged after 2 years and 9 months.

While still in the service, he married Winifred Gene Wynn, and they had 4 children. Oscar later married Callie Sue Leger, who had 3 children, and they added 2 more to their family. Callie passed away on December 30, 2008, after 40 years of marriage.

After the service time was over from the U.S. Army, Oscar got a job at Safeway Grocery in Waco. He retired after 30 years.

Oscar loved the Lord God and very much enjoyed making people laugh. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He loved to play dominoes and went often to dance at Sul Ross Senior Center. He enjoyed singing and many years spent playing the drums in church.

He will be missed deeply, but his legacy of faith, love, and laughter will continue on. We rejoice knowing where he is and that we will see him in heaven.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Bailey and Annie Lee Brock Bailey; his beloved wife, Callie Sue Bailey; and daughter, Leslie Jo Featherston; brothers, Joe Bailey and Leslie Bailey; sisters, Opal Grace Smith, Artence Bailey Wetch, Minie Bailey Hajek; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Pipkin.

He is survived by his sons, Daniel Bailey and wife Cathy, Floyd William Bailey, Joseph Bailey and wife Jennifer, James Leger; daughters, Nancy Rountree and husband Kenny, Ann Carter and Husband Curtis, Cynthia Leger, Jackie King and husband William.
