Oscar Burnell Dickson was born December 7, 1935 in Columbus Co., to the late John Dickson and Sally Martin Dickson. He departed this early life Thursday, October 26, 2023 at home.
He joined First Missionary Baptist Church in 1975. Where he served on the Usher and Trustee Board. Oscar was a faithful and dedicated member until his health declined.
Little Buddy as he was affectionally called was a kind and loving person, a good husband and father. He was a people person and always making people laugh.
The family will receive visitors at First Missionary Baptist Church in Selma on Saturday November 4, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the church on Saturday at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow the service in Selma Memorial Gardens.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Doris, three children, Oscar Dickson, Jr. (Shelia), Teresa Gail, and Dexter Dickson (Penny); sisters, Theo Dickson of Wilmington, NC and Beverly Dickson of Leland, NC; brother, Perry Dickson (Rebecca) of Riegelwood, NC; sisters-in-law, Gladys (Charles) of Brooklyn, NY and Jane (Nathaniel) of Selma, NC; five grandchildren, Letitia Dickson, Ashton Dickson (Brittany), Angela Smith, Chanel Smith and Ian Smith; and a host of great grandchildren. A host of cousins, nephews and special dear friends, Johnnie Pearce, James O'Neal, Ernie Davis, Lacy Simpson, Jr. and Steve Turrentine.
